Project Highlights

In any given year, we complete over 50 projects on behalf of partners and issuers serving the partnership market segment.  The highlights below are representative of the type and scope of assignments we complete by bringing specialized expertise to the benefit of clients.

  • New Programs: Advised many of the nation’s largest retailers on the launch of new card programs in both the US and international markets. Clients include leading retailers in the specialty apparel, home goods, consumer electronics, and discounter sector.
  • Product Expansion:  Advised partners in many sectors on the addition of new card products to an existing offering.  Projects include adding premium card products to a program, adding a co-brand card to a private label program, and adding debit and prepaid  to a credit card program.
  • Program Expansion:  Assisted clients in expanding their card programs to international markets.  Projects include several partnerships in Mexico, Canada, United Kingdom, and Japan for leading U.S. companies in the retail and travel sector.
  • Renewals: Routinely advise partners on renewals of card partnership agreements. In 2008-2009, we advised the partners on three of the largest retail card programs as well as two of the largest travel programs.  These programs alone totaled more than $40 billion in card receivables.
  • Restructurings:  Provide a range of diagnostic and negotiations support to clients in situations where a restructuring of the partnership program is warranted.  Projects include restructuring a top 5 retail card program in the wake of the credit crisis, modifying the contractual arrangement for a program that expanded by way of acquiring another entity, and altering contractual commitments in light of the CARD Act.
